Seabirds & Plastic Research: Globally, more than 1400 marine species are negatively impacted by plastic debris in our oceans, with seabirds being one of the most at-risk groups. While many impacts are visually undeniable, such as entanglements, other impacts are difficult to see with the naked eye.  With support from Living Ocean, our research group has used new and exciting techniques to investigate these sinister effects at the cellular level, gathering quantifiable data that will ensure policy makers appreciate the true scale of the plastics issue.
